Went retreating today with the high school youthgroup girls!
Went to the beach for a bit and met some cute kids. Then we went horseback riding, and met some great geldings and goats. Did hair and nails, played the wacky game of Quelf, and watched lightning late at night. All night, in fact. Overall, a spectacular time.

A currant droop.

We also ridded a kind lady's "dog yard" of weeds, to reveal the lovely rockage. We got paid a good sum for our mission trip, which is coming up... fast... which we are very grateful for.
My Before... without an After.

Bryanne, Anna, Marcella and I went to Despicable Me 2 today, and it was pretty super for being a sequel. BTW I love the first one. It is my favorite movie. So yes.
Anyway...
Then we went to Valley Diner to eat tasty Sebastian Joe's, and we headed to Kelley Park to eat our lovely cones... dishes... and stand in the mist because it was hot. And watch cute little children stick their head through the fountains.

Always have a focal point in your photographs.

We went to a pool party at Matt's house for youthgroup tonight, and someone forgot a camera.
It was great fun.
I'm actually not that great of a swimmer. We'll see about this triathlon. :)

WWJD? An insightful question asked by many.

Tomorrow we go golfing with family in WI, so I must relearn...
I thought it looked pretty good. :)

Parades are fun to photograph... such a variety of subjects, many pointing and posing.
Also fireworks, for which I set it up, point upwards and start snapping!

Okay.
Today we're going to try something a little different.
I'm going to describe the scene to you, and you're going to capture the image in your mind.

Remember to keep in mind a good composition and exposure and everything else the pros do when you capture this scene...

Maybe it might just help you to jot down your awesome snapshot. (If you do, I'd love to see it! :) )

You're laying in tall wheat grass, the soft, waving kind that beckons you to come rest, just for a minute. You observe the countryside rolled out in front of you:
Cows moan softly off in a distant barn.
Maybe that barn isn't so distant... You can make out the faded red barn on the horizon, washed out from the smiling summer sun resting on its sloping roof. The cows are grazing off to the side, watching over the young calves learning to walk. A farmer sits on a wooden crate near the gaping mouth of the old barn, relaxing into the red slats. He is as tan as any farmer should be, with wrinkles from ages of laughter, his face soft with kindness, his eyes catching the late afternoon rays. His hands rest behind his worn straw hat.
You follow his eyes... he is watching the road that graciously curves past there settlement. Waiting for what?
The wind stirs the golden grass once more, and you are drawn back to the wheat whipping its tails, the dainty daisies dancing to the prairie's song.

Perfect! You've captured the moment. I knew I could count on you...

Well, the sight from our hotel room is actually pretty nice. This is just a small-camera-through-screened-window snapshot of it.
Hey. I don't got a lot of free time. We're at basketball camp.

Flowers were finally installed on the deck... not by me, of course. They are very pretty flowers, though.
Maybe I will keep a simple garden next year though. Keep me occupied over the summer, and give me some food (fruit?...!) to indulge in besides... well whatever's amazingly in the kitchen. Anyway. Left for basketball camp today, Prairie du Chien Perimeter Camp with Forrest Larson. Only two full days, but many sessions stuffed in there.
